One of the biggest reasons given for WWE cutting the Wyatt Sicks was that the group had simply run its course. Joe Gacy doesn’t see it that way. The former WWE star says the Wyatt Sicks weren’t running out of ideas—they were running out of opportunities to use them.
Speaking on The Five Marks Podcast, Gacy revealed one of the biggest frustrations he still carries from the faction’s short run. According to him, the group constantly came up with new material, regularly pitching fresh ideas to WWE in hopes of expanding the Wyatt Sicks’ story.
“Well, I appreciate that. Again, I… you know, I do wish we did more. I do wish we were there longer.”
Then he addressed the biggest misconception about the faction: “It wasn’t short of any ideas on our end.” In fact, Gacy says coming up with new concepts became part of the group’s weekly routine. Every week meant another brainstorming session. Every week meant another pitch.
“We pitched stuff every week. Like, we had something every week.”
Those ideas weren’t just conversations between the members either. They were sent directly to WWE creative: “We sent them like, ‘Hey, can we do this?'” What happened next depended on the week. Sometimes the answer came back immediately: “Either it was a no……or a no answer…”
And every once in a while, one of those ideas survived.Not exactly as they envisioned it—but close enough to feel like progress.
“…or sometimes they would take it and tweak it.”
Those were the weeks the group celebrated: “Which was a good week. That’d be a week that we’d be happy.” Even now, Gacy says he has no idea where the final decisions were actually being made or who ultimately decided which Wyatt Sicks ideas lived and which ones died.
“Like, I don’t know. I don’t know where the decision was made or who was controlling those decisions on what we did and didn’t do…”
What he does know is that, from his perspective, the faction’s creative tank was nowhere near empty.
“But I do think we had a lot more to offer……but, you know, I guess the company felt differently. So, it is what it is.”
Gacy’s comments are particularly interesting because they directly contrast reports following WrestleMania 42 that WWE believed the Wyatt Sicks had already accomplished everything they could creatively. According to previous reports, officials felt the act had “run its course” and had become difficult to sustain over the long haul.
Gacy clearly remembers things differently. From where he was standing, the ideas never stopped coming. The opportunity to use them did.
