Joe Gacy didn’t wait until next week to begin the next chapter of his career, following his WWE release.
Even though his first advertised post-WWE booking isn’t until Wrestling REVOLVER on July 24, Gacy shocked fans on July 18 by making an unannounced appearance at ACW’s Indypendence Day event—and he wasted no time picking his first target.
It wasn’t just a return. It was a warning. Appearing under the name Joseph Sawyer, the former Wyatt Sicks member interrupted the event with a chilling pre-recorded vignette aimed directly at ACW Champion Killer Kross, setting up a title match between the two for October 18.
Staying true to the eerie persona that made him stand out in WWE, Gacy never raised his voice. He didn’t have to. Instead, he delivered a message that sounded more like a threat than a challenge.
“Killer Kross, enjoy your kingdom. Learn every hallway, memorize every corner, because when the leaves fall… I’ll already be inside.”
With just a few sentences, Gacy made it clear he isn’t interested in easing back into wrestling after WWE. He’s coming for a championship.
The surprise appearance also changes the timeline of Gacy’s return. Fans had been expecting Wrestling REVOLVER on July 24 to mark his first match and first appearance after WWE, but ACW beat everyone to it by unveiling Joseph Sawyer nearly a week earlier.
Now, all eyes shift to October 18. Gacy has already arrived on the independent scene, and if his first appearance is any indication, he’s bringing the same unsettling presence with him—only now, Killer Kross is the one standing in his way.
