Jim Ross didn’t hold back when asked about Sycho Sid being placed in WWE’s Legacy Wing, and he made it clear he believes Sid deserved far more recognition.

‘Sycho’ Sid was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026 as part of the Legacy Wing. That designation meant Sid was honored with only a video package during the ceremony instead of receiving a full in-person induction. After the ceremony, Sid’s son Gunnar publicly criticized the setup and said he felt the presentation did not properly honor his father’s legacy.

During an episode of Grilling JR, Jim Ross was asked about Sid’s induction and the reaction from his family. Ross immediately sided with the criticism and made it clear he felt Sid should have been treated as a top-tier Hall of Fame inductee.

“If my daddy was going into the Hall of Fame, I would want them to have the biggest presentation that they could produce. Based on previous years’ criteria, by a variety of talents, Sid was overqualified to go into the Hall of Fame.”

Ross then directly took aim at the Legacy Wing itself, questioning the purpose of using it for a performer with Sid’s résumé.

“[The Legacy Wing] is a joke. It’s just one way to give somebody a payday or some recognition, I understand that, but a guy who headlined WrestleMania a couple of times, a multi-time champion, he deserved and earned…”

Ross also acknowledged Sid’s reputation backstage, admitting that the former world champion wasn’t always easy to work with — but made it clear that shouldn’t erase his accomplishments.

“Was Sid a pain in the ass? Yeah, sometimes. No doubt about it. He was moody. He had a lot of pride, and some who worked with him closely may say that he had too much pride because he became a pain in the ass to work with, but does that mean he doesn’t deserve to be in the regular Hall of Fame? No. He should’ve been in the regular Hall of Fame.”

Despite the controversy surrounding the Legacy Wing placement, Ross made it clear that Sid’s place in wrestling history remains secure regardless of how WWE chose to honor him.

“Sid’s legacy, whether he’s in the Hall of Fame of Legacy Wing, he’s never going to be forgotten.”

Sid’s résumé supports Ross’ stance. He headlined WrestleMania 8 and WrestleMania 13, held the WWE Championship twice, and also captured the WCW World Heavyweight Championship on two occasions. Those accomplishments helped cement him as one of the most recognizable main event stars of the 1990s wrestling boom.

Jim Ross’ comments add another layer to the ongoing debate about how WWE handles Legacy Wing inductions, especially when it comes to major names who helped headline some of the company’s biggest events.

Do you think Sycho Sid should have received a full Hall of Fame induction instead of being placed in the Legacy Wing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
