WWE’s roster shake-up isn’t slowing down, and now another name has been added to the list as JC Mateo is gone from the company.
JC Mateo is officially out of WWE, with the company moving him to the Alumni section on its website, confirming he’s no longer part of the active roster. Sean Ross Sapp reported the news, confirming Mateo is part of the latest group of departures.
"Mateo is among a new group of WWE departures, Fightful Select and Cory Hays from Bodyslam have learned."
Mateo’s final match came on the April 24 episode of WWE SmackDown, where he teamed with Tama Tonga in a loss to Damian Priest and R-Truth. It turned out to be his last appearance before quietly disappearing from the active roster.
His WWE run began less than a year ago, debuting at Backlash 2025 in a major spot by aligning with Solo Sikoa. That introduction immediately tied him to one of the company’s dominant forces and placed him within the MFTs faction, where he served as a physical presence alongside the group.
Before signing with WWE in 2025, Mateo was known internationally as Jeff Cobb, building a strong reputation in New Japan Pro-Wrestling as part of the United Empire faction. His transition to WWE came with momentum — but that push never fully translated into a long-term role on the main roster.
Now, with his name officially shifted to Alumni status, Mateo’s WWE run comes to a sudden end after a short stint tied heavily to faction work and supporting roles.
