Jasmin St. Claire’s fake JCW pregnancy worked a little too damn well. The former ECW personality says some fans legitimately thought she was pregnant, even though the giant baby bump was part of a wrestling storyline and she was posting bikini photos without it away from the show.
St. Claire broke down just how far the angle went during an appearance on the What Do You Call It podcast. She admitted the fake bump has been a pain to deal with because it’s heavy, annoying and completely screws with what she normally wears.
“The stupid baby bump is like it’s the most annoying thing to wear because I can’t wear my usual outfits that I’m used to wearing in the ring.”
She wasn’t about to drop a bunch of cash on an entirely new wardrobe for a fake pregnancy either. St. Claire said she bought just a few dresses for the angle, while revealing that the bump itself weighs around five or six pounds.
“I only bought like three dresses to accommodate that angle because I’m not spending money on outfits that you— the baby bump is like it’s probably like five or six pounds. So it puts weight on me, which I’m not a fan of.”
Then came the part that proved the whole thing was actually working. Someone at Barnabas told St. Claire that there were fans who genuinely believed there was a real baby underneath that bump. St. Claire couldn’t understand how anybody was still buying it because her social media wasn’t exactly hiding the truth. She said she had been posting photos in bikinis, at the beach and around pools without looking pregnant at all.
“It does. It’s funny. You know, someone who was at Barnabas told me, you know, there’s some fans that think you’re actually pregnant. I’m like, ‘Yeah, but you see photos of me in a bikini and on the beach and all over by pools on my—’ He’s like, ‘Jasmine, some people don’t follow you on the social media and they don’t know.’”
In other words, the people only watching JCW were getting worked hard. They saw St. Claire walking around with the stomach, watched the baby-daddy insanity unfold and apparently had no reason to believe she wasn’t actually expecting. The commitment didn’t stop with the fans either. St. Claire admitted she got so locked into the angle during the BloodyMania television taping that Caleb had to remind her at one point that she wasn’t really pregnant.
“So, I remember at the last TV taping of BloodyMania, I was hanging out with Caleb and they want—it was something we were doing. He’s like, I remember I was just so committed to the whole thing. He’s like, ‘Jasmine, you’re not really pregnant.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, yeah.’ That’s embarrassing, right? Um, no, but that’s how committed I was.”
The fake pregnancy has already been milked for maximum JCW insanity. Ringside News previously covered how St. Claire revealed that some fans were taking the pregnancy storyline seriously, while the angle eventually turned into a full-blown hunt for the father before Mr. Happy got dragged into the mess.
JCW also had St. Claire threatening Mr. Happy with baby responsibilities, bringing Dijak into the picture as her handpicked stepfather enforcer and even claiming she forged Happy’s signature on paperwork at BloodyMania 19. What started as one fake baby bump turned into an entire soap opera, and some fans apparently swallowed the pregnancy part hook, line and sinker.
St. Claire may hate lugging that fake stomach around, but it’s hard to argue with the payoff when fans are asking whether the baby is actually real. JCW wanted people invested in the pregnancy, and they apparently worked some of them so hard that St. Claire had to point to her own bikini photos as evidence that there wasn’t really a kid on the way.
