Jalen Brunson was supposed to be making an appearance at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Instead, he ended up with one of the biggest roles on the entire show.

Just hours before WWE returns to Madison Square Garden, the official WWE 2K26 account revealed that the New York Knicks star will serve as the host of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The post also confirmed Brunson’s return to WWE 2K26 in the game’s July 22 patch.

“The Knicks’ star point guard Jalen Brunson is hosting #SNME and making his return to #WWE2K26! 🏀 Available next patch, on July 22nd!”

The announcement came after days of speculation over how Brunson would be involved. Roman Reigns kicked things off earlier in the week by publicly inviting the Knicks star to join him at Madison Square Garden.

“The OTC. The King of New York @jalenbrunson1. The Mecca… MSG. Let’s have the whole world ACKNOWLEDGE us at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event!” Brunson didn’t hesitate to accept: “See you there ☝🏽.”

That’s especially notable given Brunson’s recent wrist surgery. Earlier reports indicated WWE had explored ideas that would’ve seen him get involved physically before those plans were scrapped because of the injury. Rather than scaling back his involvement altogether, WWE pivoted in a different direction and handed him hosting duties for one of the company’s biggest specials of the year.

Brunson may not be cleared to mix it up inside the ring, but WWE has still made sure he’ll be front and center when Saturday Night’s Main Event takes over Madison Square Garden.
