Roman Reigns is bringing the Tribal Chief to Madison Square Garden—and he wants Jalen Brunson standing right beside him.
The OTC took to Twitter and publicly invited the New York Knicks superstar to appear alongside him at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, calling on the hometown crowd to acknowledge them both inside MSG.
“The OTC The King of New York @jalenbrunson1 The Mecca …. MSG @TheGarden Let’s have the whole world ACKNOWLEDGE us at @WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event! ☝🏽 #SNME #TribalChief”
It didn’t take long for Brunson to answer. The reigning NBA champion confirmed he’ll be there with a simple response of his own: “See you there ☝🏽” That exchange all but confirms one of the biggest celebrity appearances for WWE’s return to Madison Square Garden.
Brunson had already been linked to the show after it was reported that WWE was hoping to have him involved at Saturday Night’s Main Event. According to the report, creative even explored multiple ideas involving Brunson and Danhausen before those plans were shelved after the Knicks star underwent wrist surgery, ruling out any physical role.
Even with the injury, WWE remained hopeful Brunson would still appear on camera. Reigns’ invitation—and Brunson’s public acceptance—now appears to have answered that question.
While Brunson won’t be getting physical after undergoing surgery earlier this month, his appearance alongside one of WWE’s biggest stars at Madison Square Garden should still give the July 18 special another major attraction.
