Jake Hager’s last few days couldn’t have been more different. One minute, fans were worried after he needed emergency eye surgery following a brutal Power Slap injury. Now, he’s got something much happier to celebrate.
Hager’s last Power Slap appearance ended in frightening fashion after he suffered a serious eye injury against Johnny Magna. The damage was severe enough that he underwent emergency surgery, with Patricia Blackburn later confirming he was recovering while thanking fans for all the support.
Now, the couple has shared a completely different kind of update. Hager and Blackburn announced through Slap News that they’re officially engaged, with the promotion congratulating them on becoming what it called the first official Power Slap couple.
“What happens in Lubbock ❤️ Please join us in congratulating Jake Hager and Patricia Blackburn on their engagement, making them the first official Power Slap couple!”
The engagement comes not long after Blackburn updated fans on Hager’s recovery, saying he was taking things one day at a time following emergency eye surgery.
“Thank you to the UFC and Power Slap family for the incredible love and support you’ve shown Jake during this difficult time. Jake is currently recovering from an emergency eye surgery. We’re taking things one day at a time and keeping the details private, but your kindness, support, and genuine concern have meant more than you know.”
There’s still no word on when Hager might be able to compete again, but for now, that isn’t what’s a topic of discussion. After one of the toughest nights of his combat sports career, he and Blackburn have something a lot more exciting to look forward to.
