Jade Cargill once again addressed the viral wig moment, and she made it clear right away that this was not some cheap glue job gone wrong.
While speaking on the No Contest Wrestling Podcast with O’Shea Jackson Jr. and TJ Jefferson, Jade was asked about the fatal four-way match where she was on the turnbuckle with Charlotte Flair, Lyra Valkyria, and Asuka involved. O’Shea danced around it for a second, but Jade cut right through the noise and said what everybody online had been talking about.
“My wig came off. The wig came off.”
Jade said people online tried to act like the wig popped loose because of bad glue, but she shut that down hard. According to her, the wig was sewn on, and the spot with Charlotte was rough enough that it still came off anyway.
“But the crazy thing like my wig… People want to sit there and talk about it’s the glue or whatever. Whatever. No, my wig was sewn on. I saw my wig. That’s how hard my wig was.”
Jade then made it even clearer that this was not just some little hairpiece sliding out of place. The force of the spot actually took pieces of her real hair with it.
“That’s how hard my wig my hair like pieces of my hair came out too. And but you know it’s not a secret. I say all the time, I wear a wig.”
Cargill said she has never hidden the fact that she wears wigs, and she thought some of the reaction was flat-out dumb. She said people wanted to use it as clickbait because they needed something to attack her over.
“Like, what woman of my color do we know? Like, let’s be real. Let’s not be stupid. Like, people can be very slow and very stupid, but we all know it’s clickbait. People just ride on the train, try to trend and try to jump on the hate train and it is what it is.”
Jade also said her wrestling has been improving this year, so critics had to find something else to jump on. She admitted this was one of her biggest fears in wrestling, and it actually happened in front of everybody.
“My wrestling, especially this year, I’ve been doing a very, very good job. So, it’s like, what else can we talk about? What else can we say? Can’t say I’m ugly, right? You can’t say like what what can we what what else can we say? We’re improving. So, what’s what else?”
“So, you know, this was just a time for people to try to jump on a bandwagon and make a point or whatever they want to call when I always say this a wig. I talk about it all the time. It’s one of my biggest fears and it happened.”
Jade said she was shocked she even finished the match after that. She explained that she was already starting to roll out because her focus was completely on the wig, and that distraction allowed Charlotte to get one over on her.
“More than anything though, I am shocked I finished that match. I’m not going to lie. Come on now. I was starting to roll out and that’s why Charlotte got one over on me because I was worried about that wig that entire time.”
Jade did not stop there. She said if the wig situation had not happened, she believes the match would have ended differently. She also said she screamed Charlotte’s name when it happened because she was furious in the moment.
“If it wasn’t for that, I would have definitely took that match home.”
“When it happened, I screamed out Charlotte. So, I was like, CHARLOTTE. I was so mad. I was so angry. I was so angry.”
Even with all that going through her head, Jade said she knew she could not just quit in the middle of the match. Jade said the wig was sewn on, glued on, and secured every way possible, but it was literally pulled off during the action.
“I was just like, I can’t stop right now. I can’t stop. Like I can’t stop right now, you know? And I persevered and I kept on going.”
“But my wig was sewed on. My wig was glued on. Everything you could think of, it was just the fact that it was like literally pulled off. It was literally pulled off. My hair came out as well with it.”
Jade Cargill took one of the most embarrassing moments a wrestler could deal with on live TV and kept the match moving anyway. Fans can joke all they want, but Jade’s version makes it sound like this was not a simple wardrobe slip. It was a hard-hit spot that ripped off something she thought was locked down for good.
