Jackie Redmond thought the shocked look on her face said everything when The Rock suddenly appeared and started cussing out Triple H backstage at the WrestleMania 40 kickoff. Apparently not, because more than two years later, fans are still accusing her of knowing the whole thing was coming.
While speaking to Inside The Truck on September 8, 2026, Redmond revealed that she still gets tweets from people convinced her reaction was part of the show. She remembers it very differently.
“One from wrestling, to this day, like people will tweet me about it and say, like, ‘You knew that was going to happen. Like, you’re lying. Like, that wasn’t a real moment.’”
Redmond did know she would be interviewing Triple H that night. That’s about where her advance knowledge ended. Halfway through the WrestleMania 40 kickoff, WWE told her to find Triple H once everything was over and ask him about how the press conference ended. There was just one small problem: nobody told Redmond how it was going to end.
“They said, ‘Hey, when this press event is over,’ and they told me this halfway through, they said, ‘We want you to go interview Paul, Paul Levesque, aka Triple H, and just ask him about the way that this press conference ends,’ which I didn’t know how it was going to end at that time.”
That wasn’t necessarily an accident from Redmond’s perspective. She actually likes being kept out of certain plans because then WWE doesn’t need her to manufacture a reaction when something crazy happens in front of her.
“Which is another thing. I don’t always know everything because I don’t want to know everything that’s going to happen because then I don’t have to act if I don’t actually know.”
That night gave her exactly that kind of moment. Redmond went backstage, started interviewing Triple H and suddenly The Rock was there. He interrupted them and began swearing at Triple H, while Redmond stood beside them trying to figure out what exactly she had just walked into.
“I’m backstage and I’m interviewing Triple H and The Rock comes by, interrupts the interview, starts swearing at Triple H. And, like, you can see it in the clip, my jaw is on the floor.”
The swearing is what really got her. Once The Rock started dropping that kind of language while confronting Triple H, Redmond wasn’t just wondering what WWE had planned anymore. She started wondering whether any of it was planned.
“I’m like, ‘We’re on Netflix. I’m not sure if we’re even supposed to swear.’ I’m like, ‘He just swore. Like, is this fake? Is this real?’ Like, I truly in that moment did not know that that was going to happen.”
The Rock sounded angry enough that Redmond briefly considered the possibility that she was watching an actual issue unfold right next to her.
“When The Rock swore, like, that to me was like, ‘Oh, like, is he actually mad right now? Like, is something happening here?’”
Of course, there was already plenty of chaos before Redmond ever got backstage. Cody Rhodes had chosen Roman Reigns as his WrestleMania 40 opponent during the February 2024 kickoff and insulted The Bloodline, leading to The Rock slapping him in the face. The Rock later confronted Triple H backstage while Redmond happened to be standing there with a microphone.
Redmond actually talked about the same moment in 2025 and said she had no idea The Rock was coming. At the time, she admitted she was wondering whether Rock and Triple H might start throwing hands right in front of her. A year later, people apparently still think she was in on it. Redmond has heard the accusations enough times that she’s now putting about as strong a denial on it as she can.
“I truly, like, hand to God, did not know that The Rock was going to do that.”
So that jaw-drop fans saw wasn’t Redmond trying to sell WWE’s latest WrestleMania drama, at least according to her. She says WWE kept her in the dark, The Rock walked into her interview swearing at Triple H, and for a few seconds she was just as confused about what was real as everyone watching.
Do you believe Jackie Redmond really had no idea The Rock was coming, or did WWE make the moment look a little too convincing? Let us know in the comments.
