Jack Perry almost had a much heavier entrance song after dropping the Jungle Boy gimmick.
Perry’s old AEW theme, Baltimora’s “Tarzan Boy,” became a huge part of his act because fans could sing along every time he came out. Once he changed his character, that song was dropped, and Perry made it clear fans would not be hearing it anymore. AEW eventually gave him a Beethoven theme, but that was not always the plan.
Sources via Fightful Seelct familiar with the situation claim Alice In Chains’ “Them Bones” was heavily considered for Perry’s entrance music. It was even planned at one point before AEW changed direction.
Instead, AEW made a late call to go with the Beethoven theme for Perry’s new presentation. That would have been a pretty wild shift from “Tarzan Boy.” The Alice In Chains song would have given Perry a much darker edge, while the Beethoven music gave him a colder, more dramatic vibe.
Perry later returned to “Tarzan Boy,” bringing back the song fans knew best. Still, the fact that “Them Bones” was on the table shows how different his AEW presentation could have been.
