Indi Hartwell is still finding her creative voice after leaving WWE, and she is being honest about how different things feel now that she is in TNA.
During an interview with Dom D’Angelo, Hartwell was asked about the creative freedom she has in TNA compared to her time in WWE and NXT. She explained that she had heard about how much freedom talent gets in TNA, but actually getting used to that system has taken time. Hartwell said her WWE experience, especially in NXT, was very controlled because talent there are still learning how the company wants things done.
“At WWE things are very micromanaged, especially at NXT because at NXT you’re kind of learning the ropes. So, every step is intentional. Everything is micromanaged.”
That structure had an effect on her, and Hartwell admitted she is still trying to get that creative spark back.
“I feel like that kind of made my creativity go away. So, I’m still trying to find it.”
Hartwell also made it clear that she is not looking at her TNA run as something that should already be fully figured out. She said one year may sound like a long time, but it is only a small piece of her overall career.
“It’s only been a year. You know, you could look at a year and think that’s a long time, but in reality, I’ve been wrestling for 10 years. So, the past year at TNA is only 10% of my career.”
She added that there is still more ahead for her as she continues learning, growing, and adjusting to a new wrestling environment.
“So, there’s still still more to come, still more to learn, more to grow.”
Indi Hartwell has clearly entered a different phase of her career, and it sounds like she is giving herself room to rebuild that creative side after years in WWE’s system. TNA gives her more space to figure things out, but she knows it is still a process.
