Hulk Hogan came closer to ending his life than many ever realized — and he said it himself in what turned out to be his final interview.

In Netflix’s Hulk Hogan: Real American documentary, released after his death in July 2025, the wrestling icon didn’t hold back when talking about the lowest point of his life. As his marriage to Linda Hogan fell apart, Hogan revealed he spiraled into a place where he nearly didn’t come back from.

The documentary builds through his career and personal life, but toward the end, it zeroes in on the collapse of his relationship and the aftermath of their highly public 2009 divorce.

Hogan explained that what started as an attempt to bring his family closer — including pitching Hogan Knows Best — ended with everything breaking down around him. That breaking point led to a moment he described in stark terms while recounting how far things had gone, revealing he considered ending his life.

“I went home and I started drinking and you know started eating pills, and I just went down this rabbit hole for a couple days and the next thing I know, I'm sitting in front of my bathroom with a gun in my mouth and not knowing what I was doing.”

He made it clear that the emotional collapse wasn’t the only hit — the divorce left him starting over financially as well, something he said pushed him even deeper into that dark place.

“I hit rock bottom. I gave Linda 70% of everything because I just didn’t want to ever talk to her again, be with her, I never wanted to see her again. So, I gave her everything to get rid of her and after the divorce I had no money. I was broke, and so TNA saved me.”

Bottom line — Hogan didn’t dress it up. He said he spiraled into drinking and pills, hit rock bottom during the divorce, and reached a point where he didn’t know what he was doing. It’s raw, it’s heavy, and it shows just how far things went behind the scenes during that chapter of his life.
