Hulk Hogan’s upcoming Netflix documentary just took an unexpected turn — with a surprise interview from Donald Trump now part of the project, and the story behind it is just as wild as it sounds.

Director Bryan Storkel revealed in a new TMZ interview that Donald Trump ended up being part of the documentary — and it all happened because the Hulkster made a call himself.

According to Storkel, the connection wasn’t planned from the start. It came together organically while filming, when Hogan casually proved just how close he was to Trump in real time. Storkel explained that Hogan didn’t just mention Trump — he immediately acted on it, catching the filmmaker completely off guard during one of their earliest meetings.

“I think also there’s a nice little surprise interview with Donald Trump. He helped me set it up—we went to the White House and interviewed him, and he talked all about Hulk Hogan. It was wild—the first time I was with Hulk, he started talking about how close he was with the president, and then he was like, ‘Let me call him,’ and he put him on speakerphone.”

That wasn’t a one-off either. Brian Storkel said there were multiple instances where Hulk Hogan reached out directly, eventually leading to a formal interview being locked in.

“We’re sitting in this car, and I’m like, ‘What is going on here? You’ve got the President on speed dial?’ There were a couple of times we called him while I was with Hulk, and eventually he convinced him to set up the interview.”

When the time finally came to film, Hogan was originally supposed to be there — but things didn’t go as planned. That left Storkel heading into the White House alone, where he conducted the interview with Trump — a moment he described as completely surreal.

“By the time we did it, Hulk was supposed to go with us, but he ended up having surgery right before that. I remember doing the interview in May—I can’t recall the exact date—but I’m at the White House, and I’ve just interviewed Donald Trump, and he’s like six feet away from me. It was one of the strangest, most surreal experiences.”

But the moment didn’t end there. What happened immediately after added even more weight to the story — especially in hindsight. That call ended up being more significant than anyone realized at the time.

“Then I walk outside the Oval Office, and there’s a guard in full uniform opening the door, saluting and all that—and I’m standing there on the phone with Hulk Hogan. He was so excited that we got the interview. That was actually the last phone call I had with him—right outside the White House.”

The documentary, set to drop April 22, 2026 on Netflix, already covers Hogan’s full life — but this story shows just how unpredictable the production became behind the scenes. What started as a standard interview process turned into a direct line from Hogan to the White House — and ultimately, a final conversation that now carries far more meaning than expected.

Do you think including Donald Trump in Hulk Hogan’s documentary adds to the story, or does it take the focus away from Hogan’s legacy? Let me know your thoughts.
