GUNTHER may have used Paul Heyman’s help to get what he wanted, but he isn’t looking to make that partnership permanent.

While speaking on the No Contest Wrestling podcast, GUNTHER was asked whether he would ever consider having a manager, especially someone like Heyman, after their recent SmackDown interactions. GUNTHER admitted Heyman was useful in that situation, but said that short time working around him was enough to convince him he is better on his own.

“No. Well, to be fully honest, it was very useful to have him there in that position. But those interactions in that time have been enough to make me realize that I’m better off on my own.”

GUNTHER then explained that he does not need anyone guiding him or influencing his decisions. He said he has always trusted his instincts throughout his career, and that approach has worked for him.

“I don’t need somebody in my ear. I’ve always trusted my gut my whole career, and it’s mostly been the right decision. So I wouldn’t change that.”

The comments come after Heyman helped set up GUNTHER’s Undisputed World Title match against Cody Rhodes at Clash in Italy. Heyman had a favor owed to GUNTHER after their WrestleMania 42 situation involving Seth Rollins, but GUNTHER clearly does not see that as the start of a long-term manager-client relationship.

The Ring General has built his reputation on dominance, discipline, and trusting himself. If his answer is any indication, fans should not expect the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion to become another Paul Heyman Guy anytime soon.
