The Godfather is staying in business with WWE for the long haul.

The Attitude Era favorite and WWE Hall of Famer revealed that WWE recently signed him to another five-year Legends contract, extending a relationship with the company that has quietly lasted since 2003.

Speaking with Sportshadow Wrestling, The Godfather reflected on how long he has continuously been under a WWE Legends-style agreement after finishing his full-time run more than twenty years ago.

“They started that in 2003. That’s when I finished up. I had been on it continuously since 2003. They just signed another five-year deal.”

The former WWE Champion also explained that WWE continues actively using his likeness through merchandise, including new action figures and apparel.

“They just came out with an action figure, some pants. They’ve been so cool with me.”

Even after all these years, The Godfather knows fans still strongly connect with the larger-than-life character he created during WWE’s hottest era.

“My characters, even though they were short-lived, people remember them.”

That definitely feels true. The Godfather remains one of the most recognizable personalities from the Attitude Era thanks to his unforgettable entrances, catchphrases and over-the-top charisma during WWE’s late-1990s boom period. Now WWE clearly has no plans of letting him drift too far away from the company anytime soon.
