Former WWE star Sanga is now sitting in judicial custody in India after a woman accused him of sexual exploitation and claimed their years-long relationship was built on promises that never came true. The former Indus Sher member, whose real name is Saurav Gurjar, was arrested after authorities intercepted him at Mumbai airport.
According to the Hindustan Times, police had already issued a Look Out Circular for Gurjar before immigration officials stopped him after he returned from the Middle East. He was then taken to Hyderabad and produced before a magistrate, who sent him to 14 days of judicial custody while the investigation continues. The allegations have not been proven in court.
The case stems from a complaint filed with Gachibowli police on August 15 by a 29-year-old woman. She claimed she first connected with Gurjar on Instagram in 2021, met him later that year and eventually entered into a relationship with him that continued while they spent time in both India and the United States.
According to the woman, Gurjar later revealed that he was already married, but she claims that didn’t end the relationship. Instead, she alleged that he continued promising her they would eventually build a life together and that she would be treated like his wife.
“During the course of our relationship, the accused disclosed that he was already married. He repeatedly promised to give me wife-like rights and eventually settle down with me. He used to block me on the phone/social media and disappear without any prior information. I suffered mental harassment, emotional distress and financial loss, including losing my job after I left my employment in the US to stay with him.”
The woman also alleged that every time marriage came up, Gurjar would suddenly go silent and cut off communication. She further claimed that she eventually left her job in the United States after Gurjar convinced her to move to Hyderabad, where she says the two were supposed to start a business together.
That plan, according to her complaint, never happened. She claimed the pair lived together between October 2025 and March 2026 before Gurjar eventually stopped communicating with her again, leaving her without the relationship or business future she says had been promised.
Police then registered a case under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with allegations of sexual intercourse obtained through deceitful means. Once authorities issued the Look Out Circular, Gurjar’s return to India put him directly in their path.
Gachibowli Inspector K. Saidulu explained how the arrest went down after Gurjar landed in Mumbai.
“We also issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him. On the night of September 17, he was intercepted by immigration officials at Mumbai airport when he arrived from the Middle East. Our team brought him to Hyderabad on Saturday and produced him before a magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody on Sunday.”
Before WWE fans knew him as Sanga, Gurjar already had a major profile in India thanks to his acting career, including playing Bhima in Mahabharat and appearing as Zor in Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva. He eventually made the jump to WWE, where he competed in NXT before reuniting with Veer as Indus Sher alongside Jinder Mahal. Sanga was released from his WWE contract in April 2024, ending his run with the company.
Now Gurjar is dealing with a far more serious situation than anything he faced inside a wrestling ring. He remains in judicial custody while police continue working through the woman’s allegations, and no court has determined his guilt or innocence.
