Veronica West is clearing up why she ditched the Fallyn Grey name after leaving WWE, and it turns out she had no interest in going back to her old identity. The former WWE EVOLVE star says she’s tired of the comparisons, tired of people getting her name wrong, and ready to do things her own way.

West took to Twitter on October 19 after fans kept asking why she wasn’t using Fallyn Grey anymore. She explained that Fallyn was the character she created when she first broke into wrestling, and she spent years building that identity on the independent scene. But everything changed when she signed with WWE ID and became Veronica Haven.

“Fallyn Grey was who I was when I first started prowrestling. She was the blueprint I crafted, and I spent years building that name on the independent scene. It was a character and an identity I poured so much of myself into. When I signed with WWE ID, I became Veronica Haven and had to conform to what was needed of me creatively. I wasn’t able to continue using that name after I was released.”

Here’s the thing, though. West could have returned to Fallyn Grey after WWE, but she didn’t want to. She said the constant mispronunciations and comparisons to other wrestlers had gotten old, and she wanted a fresh start with a name she could actually make her own.

“However, I didn’t want to go back to Fallyn Grey because of the constant mispronunciations and comparisons to other wrestlers. I needed a fresh start and a name that I could truly make my own.”

That’s where Veronica West comes in. She’s not completely abandoning her old characters, either. West explained that her current persona takes pieces of Fallyn Grey and Veronica Haven, with a more vulnerable side that reflects everything she’s been through. She also admitted that losing those previous identities wasn’t her choice.

“Veronica West is who I am now, a more vulnerable & evolved version of who I once was. She’s a combination of Fallyn Grey and Veronica Haven. I’m the same girl/ fallen angel I was before. My heart never changed because it’s immortal. So although I didn’t choose for these chapters to end, I had to take the harder path and choose a different direction (West).”

West also pointed out that there’s something pretty fitting about all this. Her fallen angel character has always been about losing everything and fighting to rebuild, and that’s essentially what she’s doing after her WWE departure.

“My character’s backstory has always been that of losing everything and starting from nothing. Loss, uncertainty, and persistence has always been the common theme. And thanks to Fallyn, I don’t have to completely start from nothing this time. 🫀”

The explanation comes after West confirmed her October 7 match against Airica Demia was her final WWE EVOLVE appearance. She had already announced her departure from the WWE ID program in July, ending a run that began when she was brought into WWE’s developmental system earlier this year.

West isn’t walking away from wrestling, though. She’s heading back to the independent scene and wants the fans who supported her through WWE to stick around for whatever comes next.

So that’s the end of Fallyn Grey and Veronica Haven, at least for now. West has already had to reinvent herself more than once, and this time she wants to be the one calling the shots. WWE may have been one chapter of her career, but she’s making it clear that the story isn’t over just because that door closed.

Do you think Veronica West made the right call by ditching Fallyn Grey, or should she have brought back the name she spent years building before WWE? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
