Rhino’s surprise AEW appearance last year wasn’t the start of a full-time run, but it looks like his relationship with the company isn’t over either. More than a year after popping up in AEW, the wrestling veteran is heading back to Detroit for another appearance.

Rhino took to Instagram to reveal he was already making the rounds in Detroit ahead of AEW’s back-to-back shows, posting a photo from a local television appearance promoting the events.

“At Fox 2 Detroit to promote AEW wrestling coming July 29&30th to Detroit!! Go to AEWTIX.COM for tickets!! Let’s go! Grab your tickets now or get hit with a Gore, Gore, Gore.”

The promotional appearance wasn’t the only sign Rhino will be involved this week. According to PWInsider, the former ECW World Champion is also scheduled to appear at AEW’s television tapings in Detroit, although it’s currently unknown what role he’ll play on the shows.

“Former ECW World Champion Rhino will be appearing at this week’s AEW taping in Detroit, Michigan.”

Rhino’s last AEW appearance came in May 2025, when he answered Nick Wayne’s open challenge for the ROH World Television Championship during AEW’s Detroit stop. While many fans hoped it was the beginning of a longer run, it was reported that Rhino was never under contract and had only been brought in for the Detroit events.

This week’s appearance doesn’t necessarily mean that has changed. However, with Rhino already helping promote the shows and now set to appear on television as well, AEW is once again leaning on one of Detroit’s hometown legends as it rolls into the Motor City.
