The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic officially got rolling during WWE NXT for September 22, 2026, and the first team has punched its ticket to the next round. Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno survived a hard-fought opening-round match against Los Americanos to become the first duo to advance in this year’s tournament.
Rayo Americano and Bravo Americano didn’t make things easy for them. Los Americanos used their size and power to control stretches of the match, while Dar repeatedly targeted Rayo’s left shoulder and looked for opportunities to lock in submissions.
Things really started breaking down once all four men got involved. Bravo launched himself over the top rope to wipe out both opponents before the action returned to the ring, where Dar and Moreno found themselves dealing with Los Americanos’ combination of power moves and flying headbutts.
Dar nearly ended things with an Ankle Lock on Bravo, only for Bravo to counter with a German Suplex. Rayo followed up by taking out Moreno on the floor before Bravo connected with a hurricanrana on Dar and Rayo landed a splash for another close near fall. That still wasn’t enough. Moreno eventually knocked Bravo from the top rope, giving Dar and Moreno the opening they needed to hit their finishing combination and score the three-count.
With the victory, Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno officially became the first team to advance in the 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Their tournament run continues, while Los Americanos are already out of contention after falling short in the opening round.
The Dusty Classic is only getting started, but Dar and Moreno have already made sure they’re moving forward while the rest of the field fights to join them. Now they’ll have to wait and see who stands across the ring from them in the next round.
