MJF’s Hollywood résumé just keeps getting bigger. After landing roles in The Iron Claw, Happy Gilmore 2 and the upcoming Violent Night 2, fans have now gotten their first look at the AEW star in another feature film.
The official trailer for Clark Duke’s second directorial feature, Stranglehold, dropped on September 23, giving fans their first-ever look at MJF’s role in the dark comedy thriller. MJF appears during a chaotic scene inside a Santa Claus-themed strip club, where armed robbers storm the building. After initially hiding behind the bar, he suddenly pops up with a shotgun and isn’t exactly in the mood to negotiate.
“F*** you, you ain’t getting back there.”
The trailer doesn’t reveal much else about MJF’s character, but it’s enough to show he’ll have at least one memorable action sequence when the film arrives. He’s not the only wrestling name featured in Stranglehold, either. Former WWE personality Kayla Becker also appears in the movie, while David Arquette, who has become closely associated with professional wrestling over the years, is part of the cast as well.
Alongside MJF, the film stars Ashley Benson, Jake Lacy, Justin Long, Chandler Duke, Elle King, David Arquette and Ron Perlman. With Happy Gilmore 2, Violent Night 2 and now Stranglehold, MJF continues to build an impressive acting résumé while remaining one of AEW’s biggest stars. His latest project arrives on digital platforms and VOD on October 2, 2026. So we’ll have to see how the movie turns out in the end.
