The July 20 episode of Monday Night Raw left a lot of fans asking the same question: Where was the women’s division?
Despite featuring several female Superstars in brief appearances throughout the night, the July 20 episode didn’t include a single women’s match or an in-ring women’s promo segment. Instead, Maxxine Dupri appeared at ringside during the opening match, Sol Ruca, Lyra Valkyria, Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez were limited to commercial break promos, while Liv Morgan and Iyo Sky only got involved during Dominik Mysterio’s match against Joe Hendry.
That lack of meaningful television time quickly became one of the biggest talking points coming out of the show, with fans taking to Twitter to question WWE’s booking of the women’s division, after Triple H promoted a Danhausen vs. Dominik Mysterio for SummerSlam. One fan wrote:
“where is the women’s wrestling???!!!!”
Another shared an image reading: “Book the Women’s Division better.” Others were even more direct with their frustration: “how about instead we have some woman’s wrestling?” Another fan questioned why WWE continues to underutilize its women’s roster.
“You know you have women on your roster right? And you know you have women’s titles on your roster. Idk what your obsession is with this d*** fest.”
One final fan called on Triple H to make changes moving forward, telling The Cerebral Assassin to stop booking the women like trash.
“We need more womens matches. Start booking the women more @TripleH. Stop with this Danhausen stuff too. Stop booking the women like trash.”
With SummerSlam less than two weeks away, many fans expected Raw to devote more time to building the women’s division. Instead, the show’s limited use of female talent led to a ton of criticism online, with viewers arguing that brief cameos and commercial break promos aren’t enough when WWE has multiple women’s championships and one of the deepest rosters in wrestling.
