The wrestling fan who got cracked in the head by Tiger Jeet Singh’s saber apparently isn’t angry about it at all. In fact, the 38-year-old says getting attacked by the 82-year-old wrestling legend was basically a dream come true — and he’s actually disappointed the blade didn’t leave him with a scar.
Speaking to Tokyo Sports after attending the October 21 Strong Style Pro Wrestling event at Korakuen Hall, the fan opened up about the bizarre incident for the first time. He revealed that when he saw Singh charging toward him at the October 17 show, his first reaction wasn’t exactly fear.
“I thought a god had come flying at me.”
The longtime wrestling fan admitted he doesn’t even remember the saber actually making contact with his forehead. All he remembers is suddenly feeling the impact and realizing that Tiger Jeet Singh had just nailed him.
“I don’t remember being stabbed. Suddenly there was a ‘bang,’ and I thought, ‘I’ve been hit, this is awesome.’”
The man, a 38-year-old office worker from Yokohama, has been watching professional wrestling since elementary school. He grew up seeing Singh and Abdullah the Butcher on television and always wanted the chance to experience them in person.
“I used to watch Singh and Abdullah the Butcher on TV. I wanted to see them in person, but I never thought I’d actually be attacked.”
The attack definitely looked scary in the moment. Singh was making his entrance at Megumi Kudo’s 40th anniversary show when he started swinging his trademark saber through the crowd and caught the fan directly in the forehead.
The man was left bleeding and eventually taken to the hospital by ambulance. Thankfully, the injury wasn’t serious, and doctors were able to close the wound with medical staples. Apparently, that’s where the disappointment comes in. Instead of being upset about getting his head busted open, the fan wishes Singh had done enough damage to leave him with a permanent souvenir.
“I wish they had cut a little deeper… I’m actually a little shocked.”
He isn’t holding a grudge against Singh either. Asked about potentially seeing the wrestling legend again if Singh makes another trip to Japan, the fan made it clear he’d happily be there.
“I hope I can see him again.”
That reaction is pretty wild considering what Singh himself said after the incident. Rather than apologizing, the legendary heel blamed the fan for standing in his path when he came charging through the crowd.
“It was a mistake for him to be in front of me. It’s his fault. You know that, right? All he had to do was get out of my way.”
Tiger Ali Singh backed up his father and pointed out that fans had been warned to be careful during the entrance. The show’s organizer, Megumi Kudo, took a different approach and apologized over what happened.
The fan did get another pretty nice surprise out of the ordeal. He’s a huge supporter of Sareee, and after hearing what happened, she sent him a ticket to her December 28 show along with an autographed photo as a get-well gift.
“I’m actually kind of happy about it. As long as I’m able to move, I’ll continue to support Sareee.”
What initially looked like a nightmare situation apparently turned into one of this fan’s favorite wrestling memories. He got attacked by one of the villains he grew up watching, walked away without a serious injury and even scored a gift from Sareee — although he’s still a little bummed Tiger Jeet Singh didn’t leave him with a scar to remember it by.
