Former WWE star Summer Rae just shared a deeply personal health scare that could’ve taken a very serious turn.

Summer Rae took to her Instagram story and uploaded a video, revealing that she was recently diagnosed with precancerous melanoma and had it surgically removed.

“Get your yearly skin check,” she urged in the video. “Five weeks ago, I went in to get my skin checked, and they found something that was very precancerous melanoma. They asked me to come in today to have it removed. I just got stitches. I didn’t think I’d be getting stitches on a Saturday, but here we are. Thank God I went in ”

Rae said she didn’t expect to be getting stitches on a Saturday, but was incredibly grateful she took the advice of a follower who messaged her years ago, telling her to get checked.

“Someone told me on Instagram three years ago to go get this done — that’s why I did it, and that’s why I’m making this video.”

She also broke down the cost, stressing that money should never be the reason someone skips a skin check.

“Your insurance covers it. And if your insurance doesn’t cover it, most places charge about to out of pocket. That’s nothing compared to dealing with cancer.”

The health scare comes just months after Summer Rae teased a possible return to wrestling, saying she was getting “the itch” again while working on wrestling-related Hollywood projects. She even joked about training with Chavo Guerrero and rocking a Guerrero t-shirt like part of the family.

“I’ve been getting the itch a little bit,” she said. “I’ve been doing some projects in Hollywood that require some wrestling, and so Chavo Guerrero recently told me that I still have it, and I’m like, ‘Chavo, don’t say that! He also gave me a Guerrero shirt, and I wear it now, and I feel like I’m one of them’”

But for now, her focus is clearly on health — and making sure others don’t ignore warning signs. Catching it early made all the difference, and Summer isn’t sugarcoating how serious it could’ve been if she hadn’t gone in.
