2 Cold Scorpio’s legal situation just went from bad to worse. The former WWE, WCW and ECW star was taken into custody Thursday after admitting in court that he brandished a firearm while out on bond — and the judge wasn’t willing to let him walk back out the door.
Charles “2 Cold Scorpio” Scaggs appeared in a Kansas City, Missouri courtroom on September 17 after prosecutors asked the court to revoke his bond ahead of his October sentencing. PWInsider confirmed that Scaggs was jailed following the hearing, with the mystery surrounding the prosecution’s request finally becoming a whole lot clearer.
During the hearing, Scaggs acknowledged that he had brandished a firearm while out on bond. That admission was enough for the court to determine that he had violated the conditions keeping him free. Court records didn’t mince words about why Scaggs was being locked up.
“Court finds and believes Defendant to be clearly in violation of his bond conditions, and that said violation is a danger to public safety.”
That’s a massive turn from where things stood just days ago. Prosecutors filed their motion on September 9 asking for Scaggs’ bond to be revoked, but at the time there was no public explanation for what had happened. Scaggs is scheduled to be sentenced on October 9 at 3 p.m. local time. The difference now is that instead of waiting for that day while free on bond, he’ll be sitting behind bars unless something changes before sentencing. The timing is especially wild because Scorpio had already gotten back inside the wrestling ring while the criminal case was still hanging over him. Scaggs told authorities at the time that he acted in self-defense. Prosecutors originally charged him with first-degree assault and armed criminal action before the case dragged through multiple delays and eventually ended with his guilty plea to second-degree assault and armed criminal action.
Now Scorpio has managed to add another serious problem with sentencing less than a month away. Prosecutors wanted him off the streets, Scorpio admitted he brandished a firearm while on bond, and the judge decided the violation presented enough of a public-safety concern to put him in jail immediately.
Scorpio was already facing the consequences of the 2024 stabbing case, but Thursday’s hearing completely changed the final stretch before sentencing. Instead of walking into court on October 9 from the outside, the wrestling veteran is now sitting in custody after violating the bond that had allowed him to remain free.
