EVIL may not even be assigned to a WWE brand yet after signing with the company, but that might not matter much longer as he’s set to make his WWE debut imminently.
After reports revealed the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion was sitting in WWE’s internal “Misc.” category with no clear placement on Raw, SmackDown, or NXT, a new report is pointing to something much more immediate.
According to BodySlam.net on April 28, 2026, sources now indicate that EVIL’s debut isn’t months away; it could be happening very soon, as he’s expected to make his WWE debut imminently.
That’s a major shift from where things stood just days ago. Earlier reports from PWInsider noted that EVIL was internally unassigned and listed in a holding category typically used for legends or inactive talent, suggesting WWE hadn’t locked in creative plans yet.
“Former IWGP Champion EVIL has not been officially assigned to any WWE brand and is listed internally on the company's ‘Misc.’ roster, which is also where legends and injured talents reside internally.”
Even with no official brand, no confirmed name, and no public announcement from WWE, the expectation now is that EVIL could show up at any moment. That leaves open multiple possibilities; whether it’s a surprise debut, a repackaged character, or a sudden insertion into an ongoing storyline. For now, WWE still hasn’t acknowledged the signing publicly, and earlier reports also suggested he may not even keep the EVIL name when he appears.
“We are told the expectation in Japan is that he will not keep the EVIL ring name.”
All signs now point to WWE keeping things quiet on purpose, setting up a debut that could land without warning rather than through a formal rollout. With the timeline suddenly speeding up, the only real question left is where and how he shows up first.
Do you think WWE should debut EVIL as a surprise on Raw or SmackDown, or build him up in NXT before going bigger? Let me know your thoughts.
