Elektra Lopez is opening up more about her WWE run, and she made it clear that her biggest frustration was not being able to wrestle more.

Lopez was released by WWE in February 2025, shortly after appearing on SmackDown. At the time, she said the release completely caught her off guard because she had been pitching ideas, asking to work live events, and hoping to prove herself as more than just a manager.

Now, while speaking to The Wrestling Classic, Lopez explained that she enjoyed being part of Legado Del Fantasma and building the La Madrina character, but she felt creatively stuck because most of her role involved standing beside Santos Escobar and the rest of the group instead of competing in the ring.

“It was cool. It was really cool. I just felt like the only thing was being with the group. It kind of put me into a weird spot where it was like I wanted to be a wrestler, but then I was kind of pushed more to just managing when I still wanted to wrestle.”

Lopez said the lack of in-ring opportunities became frustrating because wrestling was the whole reason she entered the business. She added that she never really got the chance to show fans what she could do between the ropes. Now that she is no longer with WWE, Lopez wants to take control of that part of her career.

“So, I wasn’t given unfortunately that many opportunities to wrestle, which was a little frustrating. But again, you know, that’s you know, when people are on the internet are like, ‘Oh, this and that.’ Like, you don’t know what it is behind the scenes. And like I have no control over that, you know, what my bookings are. So, I didn’t get a chance to really showcase much of my in-ring abilities. So, that’s what I’m hoping and planning to do now that I have free reign of my career.”

Lopez also addressed how she wanted to be presented in Legado Del Fantasma. She said neither she nor Santos Escobar wanted her to come across as just “arm candy” or a basic valet. After remaining in NXT instead of immediately moving with the group, Lopez said she was able to build more of her own identity.

“I feel like I was just able to kind of try to reinvent myself, not just as like I never wanted to be in Legado as looked at and Santos didn’t want me to be looked at as that as well as like just like arm candy like some like a valet like that, you know? We wanted me to have a little bit more of like a stronger presence. So being on my own, I felt like it helped me just establish myself as a strong character.”

Lopez’s comments make it clear that she valued her time with Legado Del Fantasma, but she wanted more than a manager role. She believed she could wrestle, manage, and build her own name, but WWE never gave her enough chances to fully prove that before her release. Now that she has free control over her career, Lopez seems ready to show the in-ring side fans did not get to see enough of in WWE.

What do you think about Elektra Lopez saying WWE didn’t give her enough chances to wrestle? Do you think she was underused during her time with Legado Del Fantasma? Let us know your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.
