Drew McIntyre had fans thinking his WWE return might be getting close after he popped up back home in the gym, but his agent just pumped the brakes on all that talk.
Before the Fourth of July weekend, McIntyre posted a video on social media showing himself back home and training. That was enough to get fans talking, because Drew has been away while working on movie projects, and seeing him back in the gym made some people think filming might be wrapped or that a WWE return could be right around the corner. Not so fast.
Drew’s agent Nick LoPiccolo cleared things up on Twitter/X. He said McIntyre only came home for the weekend and has already returned to work on his movie.
“Drew is still filming his movie The Last Druid. He came home for a weekend but he is already back to filming.”
That should kill the idea that McIntyre is suddenly free and ready to walk back onto WWE television this week. The gym video was real, but it was not some secret return tease. Drew was home for a short break, got some training in, and then went right back to filming.
This also lines up with what LoPiccolo has already said about McIntyre’s outside work. He previously made it clear that Drew is a wrestler first, but WWE worked with him on this movie situation and allowed him to handle the project.
“You didn’t even know when Drew was filming Highlander or the secret event movie until now. Drew is a wrestler first. We respect what WWE wants and where they need him. This new movie is the exception, and they were incredibly gracious. I work around their schedule by default.”
McIntyre’s acting career is clearly getting busier. He has already been tied to Russell Crowe’s upcoming action movie The Last Druid, which has been filming in Spain. He also worked with Crowe on Amazon MGM’s Highlander reboot, so this is not just some one-off side gig anymore.
So, while Drew McIntyre showing up back home in the gym got people excited, it does not mean his WWE comeback is happening immediately. He is still filming The Last Druid, and according to his agent, that quick trip home was just a weekend stop.
