Drew McIntyre did not need a long statement to say how he felt about Sheamus leaving WWE.

After reports surfaced that Sheamus’ nearly 20-year run with WWE is coming to an end, Drew quietly took to Twitter with a post that said everything without saying much at all. Instead of writing a message, Drew shared two photos.

One showed the pair together years before they became WWE stars. The other was from WrestleMania 39, a reminder of just how much they had been through together. He finished the post with nothing more than a four-leaf clover and a burger emoji: 🍀🍔

If you know the history between the two, the meaning was pretty obvious. The clover was a nod to Sheamus’ “Celtic Warrior” nickname, while the burger referenced the running joke Sheamus made famous with his “burger after burger” line.

It was a small post, but it landed hard because Drew and Sheamus aren’t just coworkers. They’ve been close friends for almost two decades. Over the years they’ve traveled together, shared locker rooms, teamed as the Banger Bros, and beaten the hell out of each other in some of WWE’s biggest matches. That history is why Drew’s post felt less like social media content and more like a quiet goodbye.

The timing also isn’t a coincidence. Reports this week indicated that Sheamus’ WWE run is winding down after the two sides failed to reach terms on a new contract. WWE wanted to keep him under a restructured deal, but at a lower salary than his previous agreement, and Sheamus decided to walk away instead.

There has also been speculation that Triple H was behind the decision, but that was shut down. It was previously reported that this wasn’t viewed as a creative call from Triple H. Instead, it came from the business side of WWE, where contract values and payroll decisions are made.

So, whether Sheamus wrestles somewhere else or eventually finds his way back to WWE, one thing is obvious. If this really is the end of his WWE chapter, Drew McIntyre wanted to make sure his friend knew he wasn’t watching it end alone.

Do you think Drew McIntyre’s post was his way of saying goodbye to Sheamus’ WWE career? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comments.
