Drew McIntyre is still away from WWE, but he just gave fans another look at what has been keeping him busy—and this time, he brought Russell Crowe along for the ride.
The former WWE Champion took to Twitter on August 4 and shared a gym photo alongside the Oscar-winning actor, with both men flexing for the camera during filming of The Last Druid. McIntyre didn’t need a long caption to get fans talking.
“Gladiator x Warrior @russellcrowe”
The line was a nod to both of their iconic personas. Crowe famously played Maximus in Gladiator, while McIntyre has spent years building his WWE identity around “The Scottish Warrior.”
It’s also another reminder that McIntyre remains fully immersed in Hollywood while fans continue waiting for his WWE return. Questions about his status picked up recently after McIntyre briefly returned home and shared videos of himself training, leading some fans to believe he might be on his way back to WWE television.
That speculation didn’t last long. His agent later clarified that McIntyre was only home for a short break before returning to continue filming The Last Druid. Earlier in the production, McIntyre also shared the first look at his character, posting a rugged photo from the set wearing medieval-style gear in a tease that simply read, “Cinema.”
Now, with Crowe appearing alongside him, the latest image gives fans another glimpse behind the scenes as filming continues. Between The Last Druid and his reported involvement in Amazon MGM’s Highlander reboot, McIntyre’s acting career continues to grow while his WWE comeback remains on hold. For now, the Scottish Warrior isn’t preparing for another match. He’s training alongside Gladiator.
