Drew McIntyre is owning up to a move gone completely wrong — and by his own admission, the whole RV disaster was on him.
While speaking on the BobbyCast podcast, McIntyre broke down how what should’ve been a smooth relocation to Nashville with his wife and their cats turned into a chaotic overnight ordeal — all because of a driving mistake he says he never should’ve made. He started by explaining why they chose to move in the first place and how the RV became part of the plan to relocate their pets safely.
“Yeah, we moved to Nashville together. We lived in St. Petersburg, Tampa for a good eight or nine years, and we decided we needed a change.”
From there, McIntyre detailed how the idea to use an RV seemed practical at first — especially for traveling with animals — before things took a turn once he took over driving duties.
“We got an RV so we could transport our cats. We made it as far as Perry, Georgia—with her driving—and then old Drew, master of the driving here… I probably shouldn’t have been driving.”
That decision quickly led to the moment where everything went wrong. McIntyre described how a simple exit from a gas station spiraled into a major accident involving the vehicle. Instead of stopping immediately after impact — which he clearly regrets — McIntyre admitted he made the situation worse by pushing forward.
“I was leaving the gas station, and in this massive 15-foot RV, the back of it caught the side of the gas pump. Thankfully it had metal around it, because I hit something—and instead of stopping, I put my foot down and pushed through it. I ripped right through the back of the RV and tore through the side of the tire.”
With the RV damaged, the couple had no choice but to stay put — turning what should’ve been a quick stop into an overnight situation entirely caused by the accident. As if the situation wasn’t already bad enough, McIntyre said the environment around them only made things more uncomfortable as the night went on.
“We got stuck at the gas station that night because of me. Perry, Georgia—as the night went on, some unsavory characters showed up, fights were breaking out.”
Trying to get help didn’t solve the problem either. McIntyre explained how even reaching out for roadside assistance didn’t provide immediate relief. With no immediate help available, McIntyre said they were left with no option but to wait it out — a situation that understandably didn’t go over well with his wife.
“I called AAA and asked, ‘Can you send some help? Can I get some service?’ They said, ‘Oh, absolutely—you can sign up and it will kick in in three days.’ But I needed it right then—so basically, go screw yourself. So I called around, nobody helped, and we ended up spending the night there. She was pretty upset.”
It’s a story McIntyre can laugh about now, but by his own telling, the entire situation came down to one bad decision behind the wheel that turned a simple move into a full-blown mess. Safe to say, Drew McIntyre learned the hard way — sometimes it’s better to let someone else keep driving the RV.
Would you have handled that situation differently, or do you think Drew made it worse by not stopping right away? Let us know your thoughts.
