Drew McIntyre isn’t walking back his ruthless take on the WWE locker room — in fact, he’s doubling down with a fresh update that keeps the heat on.
After previously claiming that 85% of the roster “don’t look like they should be in WWE,” McIntyre adjusted the number slightly — but stuck to his original message.
While speaking to Wrestling Republic, McIntyre responded to a question about Jelly Roll’s recent in-ring presence, using the moment to reinforce his belief that most WWE stars are missing what it takes to stand out.
“Yeah, just — I said it recently. I don’t know why it was so controversial. The 85% — maybe I’m a little off. Maybe it’s like 82% of the roster. It’s like they don’t — they shouldn’t be WWE superstars.”
He made it clear that his gripe isn’t just about size or muscles — it’s about presence, athleticism, and effort.
“And you know, I don’t just mean that you have to be big and jacked like me. It would help to look like an athlete, my god. It’s like, you know, you’re in there — World Wrestling Entertainment. Wrestling’s still in there. Athletic endeavor. At least look like an athlete.”
McIntyre then took aim at the sameness he sees across the roster and questioned how some would adapt if their physical style was taken away due to injury.
“Be in shape, for goodness’ sake. But to find something that makes you stand out — like something different. What’s going to make you different from everybody else? Just a bunch of guys to me that just do the same thing and are very much of the same mold. And what’s going to make you stand out from the other guy that’s really good at wrestling or really good at high-flying — and what if a knee injury comes and you can’t do that style anymore?”
