Drew McIntyre isn’t walking back his issues with CM Punk — but he is clearing one thing up. He doesn’t hate him, even if he still can’t stand him.
Speaking on the Bobbycast Podcast, the Scottish Warrior addressed the ongoing tension with Punk and made it clear that while the animosity is real, it doesn’t come from a place of hatred. Instead, McIntyre framed it in his own blunt way, drawing a line between emotion and opinion.
“I just don’t have anyone I genuinely don’t like. I don’t have time for hate in my life. I don’t really hate him—I think he’s a piece of crap. I don’t have time for haters. So I don’t really hate Punk—I just think he’s a piece of trash.”
That update hits differently when you look back at what McIntyre was saying just months earlier. During his Guerilla Position: Beyond the Ring interview in June 2025, he went all-in on Punk’s connection with the crowd — comparing it to something far more unsettling.
“He has a Charles Manson-like quality. The way he's just able to convince people to do his bidding and love him.”
McIntyre’s frustration wasn’t just about crowd reactions — it was personal. Even in Scotland, his home turf, Punk was getting cheered, something that clearly didn’t sit right with him during their feud.
“They cheer Punk the other night… that kind of hurt. Even in Scotland. It just has that weird thing that certain people in history have. Dictators and the likes.”
And while fans debated whether their rivalry blurred the line between storyline and reality, McIntyre made it clear that what people saw in 2024 wasn’t manufactured tension — it was genuine.
“The result of a couple of people that are really good at their job who genuinely don't like each other… was what you saw in 2024.”
Now, with this latest comment, McIntyre isn’t softening his stance — he’s just redefining it. He may not “hate” Punk, but the way he talks about him shows the edge between them hasn’t gone anywhere. That leaves their rivalry in a strange place — less about scripted conflict and more about two stars who simply don’t click, no matter how loud the crowd gets.
