Drake and WWE keep crossing paths in unexpected ways. His latest project features another wrestling reference, with John Cena becoming the newest superstar to get a shoutout in one of Drake’s songs
The Canadian rapper recently released his new short film and album, FOMO, featuring tracks from his Iceman era. Wrestling fans quickly noticed that one song includes a lyric referencing the WWE legend. On “I Know What’s True,” Drake compares his chrome belt buckle to one of Cena’s most recognizable championship belts.
“Chrome belt, look like John Cena in here.”
The line isn’t just there for listeners to catch. In the video for the project, Drake shows off the chrome belt buckle while delivering the lyric, making it a pretty clear callback to Cena’s famous United States Spinner Championship.
Fans who followed the rollout probably heard it before the album even dropped. Drake previewed the same lyric during a livestream promoting FOMO, giving fans an early listen before the official release.
This also isn’t his first John Cena reference. Back in 2023, Drake mentioned the 17-time World Champion on “Wick Man” from For All The Dogs: Scary Hours Edition, so it’s become a bit of a recurring theme in his music.
The latest shoutout comes about a year after Drake found himself becoming part of the pro wrestling world for another reason. In 2025, he revealed during an interview that Rhea Ripley was his “muse” after joking that his social media feed was filled with videos of the WWE superstar. He also attended WWE Elimination Chamber in Toronto, so it’s safe to say he’s been paying attention to wrestling for a while.
Drake clearly isn’t done slipping WWE references into his music. Whether it’s Rhea Ripley or John Cena, wrestling keeps finding its way into his lyrics—and fans usually catch it right away.
