Dragon Lee is finally opening up about one of the most talked-about moments of his WWE career.

Months after GUNTHER ripped off his mask during their match on Raw, the former WWE Superstar reflected on the controversial spot and admitted it hit differently because of what a mask represents in lucha libre. While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Lee explained that wearing a mask isn’t just part of the presentation—it’s a sign of respect for an entire wrestling culture.

“I know, it’s a culture. This is for respect of our culture, you have to always cover your face. You will not see any wrestler in Mexico showing the face.”

Even with everything that happened, Lee refused to let the incident overshadow the match itself. Instead, he called it one of the best matches of his career and made it clear he’s hoping to get another chance to step into the ring with GUNTHER.

“Actually, it was some of my best matches I ever had. Gunther is a great wrestler, but I need to wrestle with him again, because after that, I didn’t have a chance to wrestle him again. I hope I can get my second opportunity; it means so much.”

Lee also admitted that having his mask ripped off was disrespectful from a lucha libre standpoint, but he laughed off the online reaction that followed. While screenshots of the moment quickly spread across social media, Lee pointed out that fans still didn’t actually get to see his face.

“When he takes off my mask, it’s not respectful. Yes, many pictures on social media, but it’s not my real face, because I was covered. You can’t see my face. I’m handsome, no worries!”

The incident immediately became one of the biggest talking points coming out of the March 2 episode of Raw, with many fans wondering whether WWE had accidentally exposed the masked star. It was previously reported that the moment was planned from the beginning, with WWE even considering using the controversy as part of the storyline going forward.

Months later, Dragon Lee doesn’t seem interested in dwelling on the controversy. Instead, he’s focused on one thing—getting another shot at GUNTHER.
