Dominik Mysterio’s rough SummerSlam weekend didn’t end when he walked through the curtain, because he’s not really happy with his current creative direction in WWE.
As fans spent the last two days tearing apart the Human Monies on a Pole match, a new backstage report claims Dominik has been asking the same question behind the scenes: why isn’t WWE using the version of his character that’s been working in AAA? Speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro revealed what he’s been hearing.
“Dom thinks his creative sucks… He does not understand why the AAA version of his presentation doesn’t correlate into the main roster TV. He doesn’t get it.”
That’s a tough report to ignore after the reaction to SummerSlam. Dominik’s match with Danhausen quickly turned into one of the weekend’s biggest punching bags, with fans blasting everything from the stipulation to the heavy comedy. The backlash even carried over to Cagematch, where, at the time of writing, the bout holds a 1.50 rating, putting it among the site’s lowest-rated WWE matches.
The timing is what stands out. Not long ago, Dominik was beating names like John Cena and AJ Styles and looked like one of WWE’s hottest young heels. Now, according to this report, he’s trying to understand why the character he’s portraying in AAA isn’t the one making it onto RAW.
The report doesn’t point to any creative shake-up or suggest Dominik is headed anywhere else. It simply paints the picture of a performer who believes he’s capable of much more than what fans have been seeing on Monday nights. With the criticism from SummerSlam still pouring in, that frustration is only going to put an even bigger focus on whatever WWE does with Dominik next.
