Dave Portnoy has seen enough of Tom Brady’s growing connection to Michael Rubin—and now he is publicly telling the NFL legend to get out before he damages his legacy.
The Barstool Sports founder reacted after Brady and Logan Paul were caught trading middle fingers in the stands during the FIFA World Cup final on July 19. Michael Rubin shared the exchange on his Instagram Story as Brady and Paul sat near each other during Spain’s victory over Argentina.
Brady spotted Paul, smiled and flipped him off. Paul immediately returned the gesture, but Brady kept going as the people around them laughed. Portnoy did not find the scene nearly as entertaining. He shared video of the exchange on X and took direct aim at Brady’s relationship with Rubin.
“Can somebody please shake Tom Brady and tell him to get as far away from Michael Rubin as possible and stop lamifying his entire legacy?”
The shot appears to be the latest chapter in Portnoy’s long-running issues with Rubin, the Fanatics founder and CEO. Brady is now caught in the middle because of his close involvement with Rubin’s events and the growing circus surrounding his feud with Paul.
Brady and Paul’s World Cup encounter came just two days after things got physical at Fanatics Fest in New York City. Their war of words escalated onstage when Brady slapped Paul across the face before security and others stepped in.
The tension had already been building for awhile, but the slap pushed the rivalry into another gear. Instead of cooling things down, Brady and Paul carried it straight into one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
Portnoy’s attack also comes amid his frustration with Rubin’s exclusive White Party in the Hamptons. Portnoy has been left off the guest list, while Brady, Paul and several major names from sports and entertainment have been welcomed inside.
That makes Portnoy’s message about more than one middle-finger exchange. He clearly believes Rubin’s world is turning Brady into something less serious and less respected than the quarterback who built one of the greatest careers in NFL history.
Brady may have retired from football, but the drama around him is only getting louder. Between Rubin, Logan Paul and Portnoy, the seven-time Super Bowl champion is now taking shots from every direction.
