Dave Bautista is officially becoming Kratos, and now the physical transformation has started too. Three weeks into training for Amazon Prime Video’s God of War series, the former WWE Champion has given fans their first look at what he’s building toward.
Bautista took to Instagram and uploaded a video showing off his physique as he prepares for the role. He’s already back to hitting the weights, but apparently this is only the beginning. Bautista revealed he’s three weeks into training and believes he needs another two months before his body is where he wants it for Kratos.
“3rd week in to weight training again. 2 more months to get to where I need to be. Like ridin a bike! LFG!💪🏽”
That’s particularly interesting considering how much Bautista’s physique has changed since his WWE days. He spent years carrying the kind of massive frame that made Batista one of wrestling’s most physically intimidating stars, but he has noticeably slimmed down during the later stages of his Hollywood career.
Kratos gives him a pretty good reason to start packing some of that muscle back on. Bautista recently landed the lead role in God of War after Ryan Hurst was forced out due to a torn bicep suffered during production. Hurst needed surgery, and his recovery would have delayed things into 2027, leading Amazon and Sony to recast Kratos rather than wait.
That also means Bautista is joining a show that had already started filming. Production began in Vancouver in February, and the material Hurst already filmed as Kratos will have to be reshot with Bautista. Filming is expected to get moving again in the coming weeks, giving Bautista a pretty clear deadline for the transformation he’s working on.
So, Bautista already knows what it takes to build the kind of physique that turns heads before he even says a word. Now he has two more months to see just how close he can get to looking like Kratos.
