Danhausen is taking over Minneapolis for SummerSlam weekend, and WWE is putting his face on an ice cream truck to make sure nobody misses him.
WWE and ESPN are launching a roaming Danhausen-themed truck across the greater Minneapolis area from July 30 through August 2. The red-and-black vehicle will hand out frozen treats while giving fans a chance to take photos, grab giveaways and check out other surprise experiences.
The truck will make stops near Downtown East Commons Park, Nicollet Mall, the Minneapolis Convention Center and U.S. Bank Stadium, where WWE will hold its two-night SummerSlam event.
Fans will also get to spin a flavor wheel and choose between two Danhausen-themed popsicles. The truck itself will feature WWE, ESPN and SummerSlam branding, but Danhausen’s painted face will be impossible to miss.
It is another big promotional spot for Danhausen, whose strange curse-filled character has quickly escaped the wrestling bubble. He has already appeared at Fanatics Fest, joined Mattel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, turned up on ESPN programming and inserted himself into the New York Knicks’ championship story.
Now WWE is turning that popularity into a full SummerSlam attraction—and giving Minneapolis fans the chance to eat a Danhausen popsicle while they are at it.
The truck will remain on the road throughout SummerSlam weekend, giving fans several chances to catch it before WWE wraps up its biggest party of the summer.
Would you track down the Danhausen ice cream truck during SummerSlam weekend, and what flavor should his popsicle be? Leave your thoughts and feedback in the comments.
