The mystery partner rumors surrounding Danhausen at WWE Backlash got completely out of control— and now Danhausen himself is finally reacting to all of it.
After days of nonstop speculation involving names like CM Punk, Jelly Roll, and Oba Femi, Danhausen addressed everything directly while speaking on WWE Now following Backlash 2026.
Instead of taking the rumors seriously, Danhausen openly mocked how fans and online reports kept treating different mystery partner names like officially confirmed news stories. While reacting to the internet speculation, Danhausen questioned why people kept assigning responsibility to him for rumors he never started in the first place.
“Here’s the thing, people go ‘Oh, it’s confirmed it’s Cola-Man Punk, oh it’s confirmed it’s Oba Femi.’ They’re great, however… who said that? Who put that responsibility on me? I didn’t even want to find one [partner], why would I ask them?”
Danhausen then continued laughing about how quickly social media cycled through completely different “confirmed” names within the same week.
“‘It’s Jelly Roll, it’s Cola-Man Punk, it’s Oba,’ I saw these were confirmed stories by the way. All three within a week, all confirmed. I should’ve had all of them.”
This comes after the mystery partner speculation ran rampant ahead of WWE Backlash. Much of the attention centered around CM Punk after WWE commentary made references to someone who “loves money,” causing fans to immediately connect the phrase to Punk. However, a Self Made report later revealed Punk was not scheduled for WWE Backlash, despite fans continuing to push the theory online.
Then the conversation suddenly changed to Jelly Roll after Bryan Alvarez claimed there was growing speculation surrounding the country music star potentially filling the mystery role instead. Alvarez admitted he could not fully confirm the information but said the rumors were actively circulating.
“I can’t confirm this but I am hearing speculation that the mystery partner for Danhausen is, in fact, Jelly Roll, which would make a LOT more sense than an unadvertised PLE appearance by CM Punk.”
As seen during WWE Backlash 2026, Danhausen and Minihausen ultimately defeated The Miz and Kit Wilson, but the mystery surrounding the partner situation kept generating attention long after the match ended.
At this point, no one knows whether CM Punk, Jelly Roll, or Oba Femi were ever seriously considered for the role. But after Danhausen’s comments, it’s pretty clear he enjoyed watching the internet completely lose its mind over the speculation.
