Damian Priest has officially responded to R-Truth blaming him for the scary injury that stopped their WWE SmackDown match early. Priest isn’t accepting any responsibility either, joking that Truth nearly ended his own life just because he was so desperate to beat him.
Speaking on Off the Ropes, Priest was asked about Truth’s recent update following their October 16 match. Truth had shared a photo from a medical facility and joked that Priest “tried to kill” him, and apparently that accusation made its way back to Priest.
“You know that guy tried to blame me? I’ve been told he posted some stupid thing that he’s good, but I tried to, like, end his life.”
Damian Priest immediately turned the accusation back around on Truth. As far as he’s concerned, Truth was the one who took the risk that led to the match being stopped, all because he wanted the victory.
“He tried to end his own just to win a match against me. And guys, it explains who he is.”
The exchange comes after Truth was legitimately hurt during their October 16 SmackDown match. Truth landed awkwardly after delivering a missile dropkick from the top rope, leading the referee to check on him before stopping the match ahead of its planned finish.
Truth finally addressed the situation on October 19 and thankfully had some reassuring news. He shared a photo of himself in a hospital gown in front of an MRI machine while thanking fans for all the messages he’d received.
“I AM OK, Thank you ALL for your support, concerns and get well wishes , Wow, It truly feels amazing to feel and be loved I’m grateful for you all.”
Naturally, Truth couldn’t give everyone a completely serious injury update. He decided to keep his storyline with Priest going by accusing his former tag team partner of nearly killing him before promising that he’ll eventually be back.
“…On 10/16/2026 I almost passed away… Damien Priest tried to kill me,, I didn’t think he was ThAt serious… But ok, I’ll be back”
Truth hasn’t publicly revealed the exact nature of his injury or the results of his medical testing, so there’s still no confirmed timetable for his return. His message made it clear that he’s doing okay, though, and now Priest is already firing back at his version of what happened.
