CM Punk turned heads with the goalie mask he wore during his August 21 SmackDown entrance in Toronto, and now the man who made it has stepped forward.
Jason Baker revealed after the August 21 show that he was behind Punk’s custom mask, which was designed around Punk’s “Best in the World” identity and featured several personal touches. Baker shared video of the finished mask and explained that the design wasn’t just thrown together for the entrance. One of the coolest details came on the side, where the paw prints actually belonged to Punk’s dog that passed away,, Larry.
“Best in the World inspired goalie mask for the Coach @CMPunk created by me. And yes, those are Larry the dog’s actual paw prints on the side.”
The mask also featured Chicago-style stars on the back along with “Best in the World” lettering across the front and Punk-inspired details worked throughout the design. Baker also credited Jolene Richardson for Punk’s jacket and gear used with the entrance.
This isn’t Baker’s first time creating something for a major WWE entrance either. He has previously worked on masks for Rhea Ripley and Cody Rhodes for WWE appearances, making Punk the latest top name to wear one of his creations.
Punk wore the mask while making his entrance for his Undisputed WWE Championship defense against Kevin Owens on SmackDown. The Toronto crowd was already hostile toward Punk with Owens challenging for the title in Canada, giving the entrance another visual that immediately stood out. Now fans know exactly who was behind it, and the Larry paw-print detail makes the mask a lot more personal than it first appeared on television.
