WWE SmackDown Results (8/21/26): Live Match Updates and Highlights

The show opens up with Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett welcoming us as we see the pre-show arrivals of Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk and Kevin Owens.

We then get a video package looking at the feud between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.

We then head to the back, where Sami Zayn is complaining to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Zayn says he should have been defending the Undisputed WWE Championship tonight. Zayn then asks Aldis if he will ever get his rematch. Zayn then admits he is happy for Kevin Owens, but says it’s an injustice. Zayn then says he put on his boots last week, but Randy Orton got involved in his match. Randy Orton is then seen standing behind Sami Zayn, but Cody Rhodes is already in the ring and he calls out Orton.

Nick Aldis then makes his way out and says they are not doing this tonight after last week’s disaster. Randy Orton’s music then hits and he makes his way out. Orton says he will whoop Cody Rhodes’ a** in front of his family at Sunday Night’s Main Event. Rhodes then asks Orton what’s stopping them from exchanging blows tonight. Aldis then intervenes and announces if either of them lays a finger of each other, they will never get a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship. Orton then says Aldis has his word and that he will never jeopardize the opportunity to become the 15-time Undisputed WWE Champion. Orton then says if Rhodes had swung that chair, he wouldn’t be able to live with him.

Orton then says he has had zero remorse when he did it. Orton then calls Rhodes a good guy and the golden boy. Orton then says he doesn’t think Rhodes will end him. Rhodes then recalls Orton turning on him earlier this year. Rhodes then says he’s trying to teach a lesson to Orton. Rhodes then vows to kill the legend of Randy Orton. Rhodes then says that’s not a prediction, but a spoiler. Rhodes then drops the microphone and his music hits.

Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga then make their way out for the first match of the night. They issue a warning to the locker room. Tama says it’s about their family now and Talla says the tag titles belong to them now. Haku then joins them on their way to the ring and tells them now they fight and now they show them who is the motherf***ing dog in here. Damian Priest and R-Truth then make their way down to the ring next.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match: MFT (Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga) (c) vs. Wepa Up (Damian Priest and R-Truth)

The match starts off with MFT jumping Damian Priest and R-Truth from behind. Tama Tonga and Priest are now going back and forth in the ring. Priest then corners Tama and hits a right hand. Priest then hits a big boot. Truth then comes in and he hits a Splash in the corner and sends Talla over the top rope and to the floor. Priest and Truth then hit a double shoulder tackle to Talla. Truth then launches himself over the top rope, wiping out Tama. Priest then continues the beatdown on Talla on the floor. Back in the ring, Truth hits a right hand to Tama. Tama then takes control and he pounds away at Truth.

Talla is now the legal man. The fight then spills to the outside. Talla then tosses Truth over the barricade. Back in the ring, Talla hits a cheap shot to Priest, while Truth is out. Truth then tries to fight back, but Talla puts him down. Tama then gets the tag and MFT lays waste to Truth. Tama then places his knee against the neck of Truth. He then hits him with a headbutt. Talla then enters the fray and hits a thunderous chop to Truth. Truth then tries to fight back and hits a kick to Tama and both men are down. Priest and Talla then come in and Priest hits a big kick. He then superkicks Talla. Priest then unloads on Talla in the corner.

Priest then hits another kick. He then follows it up with a slam to Tama. Priest then heads to the top rope and hits a flying clothesline to Talla. The War Raiders are looking at the match from the monitor. Priest then goes for a South of Heaven, but Talla out-powers him. Priest then runs into a clothesline. Talla then continues the beatdown on Priest in the corner. Tama then hits a cheap shot behind the referee’s back. Talla then runs into a boot. Priest then looks to tag Truth, but Tama grabs his foot. Priest then hits a spinning heel kick and he makes the tag. Truth then hits running shoulder blocks and he follows it up with a five-knuckle shuffle to Tama. He then hits an Attitude Adjustment to Tama and Talla breaks the fall. Priest then sends Talla over the top rope and to the floor.

The fight then spills to the outside. Priest then takes out Talla. Tama then blindsides him, allowing Talla to send him over the apron. MFT then hit the Red Cross for the win.

After the match, Damian Priest offers a handshake to R-Truth. The two men then hug it out in the middle of the ring.

We then head to Cathy Kelley backstage and she is with Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk. Punk says Kevin Owens has been fighting imaginary beefs in his head for 20 years. Punk then says he has changed and gotten better, which is why he is the Undisputed WWE Champion. Randy Orton then walks up to Punk and puts the Undisputed WWE Champion on notice. Orton says he will be coming for number 15 after he whoops Cody Rhodes’ a** at Sunday Night’s Main Event. Orton then walks away and Punk says he looks forward to it.

We then get a video package recapping everything that went down between WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green and Nick Aldis.

We then see Chelsea Green in the backstage area and she sees Tiffany Stratton walking through. Green says she wants to make it up for what happened last week. Stratton tells Green not to come out during her match tonight. Paige then walks up to Green and showers praise on the WWE Women’s Champion. Fatal Influence then walk up to Green. Jacy Jayne says it’s only a matter of time before she becomes the WWE Women’s Champion. Paige then sets her sights on the Women’s United States Championship and Fatal Influence walk away.

We then see Blake Monroe in the backstage area. Cathy Kelley then walks up to her and asks her about her debut. Monroe says she sees herself as WWE Women’s Champion material. Monroe then says she thinks her match should be against Chelsea, but it will be against Giulia and it should be in Paris or Milan but instead it’s in a dump like Toronto. Monroe then says she looks great and even when they give her nothing, she will do her best and make everyone talk about her.

Giulia then makes her way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Blake Monroe follows.

Singles Match: “The Beautiful Madness” Giulia vs. “The Glamour” Blake Monroe

The match starts off with Blake Monroe wasting no time and she jumps Giulia from behind. Monroe then continues the beatdown on Giulia. Monroe then sends Giulia into the steel steps. Monroe then sends Giulia back into the ring. Monroe then hits a heat butt right to the jaw of Giulia and she follows it up with a knee. Monroe then gets in the ring. Monroe then hits a neutralizer. Monroe’s music then hits and she leaves the ring.

The Singles Match ends in a No Contest!

We then head to the back with Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. Flair says she’s excited for Bliss’ belated birthday brunch. Bliss then brings up Tatum Paxley. Paxley then says she can’t wait to hang out with them. Flair then asks what’s happening. Jade Cargill and the Baddies then walk up to them. Cargill says Flair needed Tatum Paxley to beat her a few weeks ago. Paxley then introduces herself and asks them if they are coming with them for brunch. Michin then challenges Tatum Paxley to a singles match next week. Tatum Paxley then says she would love that.

Trick Williams and Lil Yachty then make their way down to the ring. Trick Williams starts off by saying he knows it’s been a minute, but he got his dog back Lil Yachty. Williams then says he doesn’t have his United States Championship back. Williams then says Baron Corbin is taking short cuts. Williams then calls Baron Corbin out. Corbin then arrives in style on a motorbike and he is not carrying the United States Championship with him. Corbin then scares off Lil Yachty. Williams then says he’s the one Corbin is looking for. Williams then says Corbin cheated to win the United States Championship. Williams then tells Corbin to stop ducking him and give the people what they want. Williams then says he wants his rematch right here and right now.

Corbin then says the United States Championship is getting a pretty little haircut. Corbin then says he doesn’t think Williams will get another shot at the gold. Corbin then says he has already beat him twice. Corbin then says Williams has nothing to offer him. Lil Yachty then attacks Corbin with a kendo stick from behind. Williams then sends Corbin over the top rope. Corbin then offers Williams his rematch at Sunday Night’s Main Event. Corbin then says he wants Lil Yachty in his hometown. Corbin then says if he survives 5 minutes in the ring, Williams will get his title shot. Corbin then says if he didn’t, they are done for good. He then tells Lil Yachty to put his money where his mouth is. Lil Yachty then accepts. Corbin then tells him good and this is going to be the longest five minutes of his life.

We then see Cathy Kelley and she is with Kevin Owens backstage. Owens says it’s great to have a title match. Finn Bálor then walks up to him and says he was so glad to see him back at SummerSlam. Bálor then says a little heads-up would have been nice. GUNTHER then walks up to him. GUNTHER says he wants to take some pressure off him. He then calls Finn Bálor a shadow of himself. He then says if Owens wins tonight, he needs to worry about him. Bálor then says he will be waiting for Kevin Owens on the other side if he wins the Undisputed WWE Championship tonight.

Tiffany Stratton then makes her way down to the ring for the next match of the night.
