Conor McGregor did not stick around after his UFC 329 comeback crashed and burned.
On the post-show, the hosts said McGregor suffered a right knee injury against Max Holloway. McGregor left the venue almost immediately and refused to use crutches. He did not even change clothes.
McGregor was shown leaving the arena still wearing his full fighting gear after the bout was thrown out in the first round. The former two-division champion appeared to blow out his right knee after throwing his first kick.
McGregor fell to the canvas twice after the leg gave out. Officials quickly stopped the fight once it became clear he could not continue safely. The scene was brutal considering McGregor had waited five years to return to the Octagon. His previous fight ended with a broken leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021, and now another right-leg injury has wrecked his comeback.
There was no long goodbye, post-fight interview or emotional speech. McGregor got out of the building fast, still dressed to fight and unwilling to use crutches despite the apparent knee damage.
The full extent of the injury remains unclear, but the early signs were not good. McGregor barely got the chance to compete before his body betrayed him again.
McGregor’s UFC return was supposed to answer questions about whether he could still hang with the best. Instead, he left Las Vegas in full gear with another potentially serious injury hanging over his career.
