Cody Rhodes just became the latest major wrestling name to get soaked for Rebel. After being nominated by his brother Dustin Rhodes, Cody accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and immediately put three more names on the clock.
The American Nightmare took to Instagram and participated in the challenge, which has continued spreading across WWE and AEW in support of Rebel. Before getting soaked, Cody explained that Dustin was responsible for putting him up next and made it clear this was about supporting someone they consider part of the wrestling family.
“I have been nominated for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by my brother, Dustin Rhodes. We are doing this for our friend and family member of our community, Rebel.”
Cody wasn’t going to let the challenge stop with him either. He nominated Brodie Lee Jr. and Brooke Havoc before putting WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green on the list as well.
“I’ll nominate Brodie Lee Jr., Brooke Havoc, and let’s nominate the champ, Chelsea Green.”
With that taken care of, Cody dumped the ice water over himself and took the freezing shock like a champ. Rhodes is joining a pretty loaded list of wrestling names who have already stepped up for Rebel.
Tony Schiavone recently took the challenge with some help from his three grandchildren before nominating Justin Roberts, Nigel McGuinness, Blake Christian and Lee Johnson. Mick Foley participated alongside Rebel, with Britt Baker doing the honors and dumping three buckets over his head.
Sting, Tony Khan, Harley Cameron, The Young Bucks, Anna Jay, Jack Perry and Luchasaurus have also gotten involved as the challenge continues bouncing between WWE and AEW. Now Dustin Rhodes has successfully dragged his younger brother into it too.
Cody answered the call, took the ice water and kept the chain moving. Brodie Lee Jr., Brooke Havoc and Chelsea Green are officially next—and considering how quickly this challenge has been spreading through wrestling, it probably won’t be long before another bucket gets filled.
