Cody Rhodes didn’t just get the Undisputed WWE Championship back from Pat McAfee—he actually smashed his way in and took it.

After calling out Pat McAfee for holding the title, Rhodes stormed the Thunderdome, trashed McAfee’s set, and walked out with the championship in hand. The update came straight from McAfee on April 15, 2026, and paints a chaotic picture of what went down. According to McAfee, the entire incident was caught on security footage—and it started with Rhodes forcing his way in.

“An a**hole ruined our set. This is from the security footage—pounding on the door, and a couple moments later he comes back, and that wound up being Cody Rhodes. That is Cody Rhodes.”

Once inside, things escalated really fast. Pat McAfee described Cody Rhodes going straight for the set and tearing through it, destroying equipment and collectibles before grabbing the title.

“Cody walks right up onto the stage—full day of media in New York… he takes my bat, busts a once-in-a-lifetime collectible, hits my mic, knocks the chair down, and takes Randy Orton’s title out of here.”

That last part changes everything—Rhodes now has the WWE Championship back in his possession after physically taking it. McAfee also took issue with how Rhodes left the scene, making it clear this wasn’t just a quiet exit.

“So then Cody just walks his ass out of here, all mad, and then he goes on Instagram and posts a video of him walking out there playing my fucking song.”

After calling McAfee holding the title the “most offensive image in wrestling history,” Rhodes didn’t wait for WrestleMania—he went and got the championship back himself. The visual he was complaining about is now gone, replaced by an even more chaotic moment heading into the biggest show of the year. With WrestleMania 42 just days away, this just took the storyline to another level—and now the title is back where Rhodes believes it belongs.

Do you think Cody Rhodes went too far by destroying the set to get the title back, or was this exactly what the storyline needed? Let us know your thoughts.
