Cody Rhodes made a loud statement during day one of WWE World in Las Vegas after showing up dressed as Guile from the upcoming Street Fighter movie.
WWE shared footage of Rhodes making his way into the venue while his entrance music played, fully decked out as the iconic video game character. Fans lined the barricades as he walked through the area wearing Guile’s signature look, including the flattop-style hair and military-inspired gear tied to the character.
Rhodes stood out even more because other actors connected to the movie were also at WWE World, but they were not dressed as their characters. He was the only one who showed up fully in costume, which made the moment feel like part of the movie’s rollout during WrestleMania weekend.
The appearance comes as promotion for the Street Fighter movie continues to ramp up. Roman Reigns has also been pushing the project after the official trailer dropped. Reigns, who is playing Akuma in the film, shared the trailer on social media and made sure fans knew when it’s coming out. After the trailer went live, Reigns posted a short message to promote the release date.
“FIGHT! Watch the Official Trailer for #StreetFighterMovie, hitting theaters everywhere October 16.”
The new movie features a stacked cast that includes Noah Centineo as Ken, Andrew Koji as Ryu, Jason Momoa as Blanka, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog. With Cody Rhodes playing Guile and Roman Reigns portraying Akuma, WWE has multiple major names tied directly to the project.
