Cody Rhodes knows plenty of people had issues with Dusty Rhodes over the years, but he is not interested in keeping every old grudge alive.

While speaking on What Do You Wanna Talk About?, Cody opened up about how he deals with people who may have criticized or wronged his father in the past. Cody said his sister Teil Rhodes remembers every slight against Dusty, comparing her memory to Arya Stark’s kill list from Game of Thrones: “So Arya Stark says the names. Right. So I’m a lot more diplomatic about it. Teil’s not.”

The American Nightmare joked that Teil does not forget when someone crossed their father, and he admitted she still brings up those old wounds when he mentions certain names.

“Teil, at the end of the day, it’s hard when I’m like, ‘Hey, I talked to such and such.’ She’s like, ‘Yeah, I remember what he did to dad.’”

Still, Cody said that balance works for them because he does not believe it is his job to keep fighting Dusty’s battles years later: “But it balances each other out because that’s not my job to carry his battles.”

Instead, Cody said he tries to change the energy when he runs into people who once had problems with Dusty. He used Honky Tonk Man as an example, saying he heard the criticism but still chose kindness when they met: “I remember Honky Tonk Man went on this whole shoot about Dusty.”

Cody said he did not take it as the end of the world, because people in wrestling often say things to entertain or make a point. Then Cody explained exactly how he handled the situation when he met Honky Tonk Man in person.

“It’s his opinion, he’s trying to be entertaining, it’s not the end of the world. But when I met him, I made sure I was the nicest person to him. ‘Cause whatever that was, it’s ending right now.”

That says a lot about how Cody views Dusty’s legacy. He clearly respects what his father went through, but he does not want to walk around carrying every old insult, disagreement, or wrestling beef that Dusty had during his career. Bottom line, Cody Rhodes is choosing peace over revenge. Teil may remember every name on the list, but Cody is trying to make sure those old battles end with him.
