CM Punk and Dominik Mysterio could be headed for another collision — and this time WWE may be dropping it right into Punk’s backyard.
Ringside News has learned that Punk vs. Dominik has been discussed for WWE x AAA Worlds Collide on September 26 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. The match isn’t official, but the idea has been on the table as WWE figures out exactly what Punk will be doing on the Chicago card. And there’s already plenty of bad blood to work with.
Punk started poking at Dominik almost immediately after returning to WWE in 2023. He posted an old image of himself pointing at a much younger Dominik on Instagram, teasing a matchup before WWE eventually put them together.
That tease quickly became real. Dominik was Punk’s first opponent after his WWE return, with Punk beating him at Madison Square Garden on December 26, 2023 before the two ran it back days later in Los Angeles. Punk even joked after the MSG match that he had wanted to slap Dominik since he was eight years old. The shots didn’t stop once those matches were over.
Dominik later interfered in Punk’s steel cage match against GUNTHER in Chicago, helping GUNTHER retain before joining the post-match attack. Punk responded afterward by unloading on Dominik online and calling him a “greasy twat.”
Things got even nastier in 2025. Punk took another shot at Dominik on social media, calling him a “lil b*tch,” and Dirty Dom fired right back by saying Punk was “old and beat up” while making it clear he had zero love for him. So WWE wouldn’t exactly be starting from scratch if it decides to go there.
Punk and Dominik have already wrestled, traded insults online and crossed paths in Chicago, which gives Worlds Collide a ready-made story without needing weeks of setup. Put Dominik in front of a Chicago crowd opposite Punk and WWE would barely need to touch the gas before the place goes nuclear.
The timing makes it even juicier. Worlds Collide will run the same day AEW brings All Out to NOW Arena in nearby Hoffman Estates, giving WWE and AAA a direct fight for attention in the Chicago market.
For now, CM Punk vs. Dominik Mysterio is still only a matchup that has been discussed. It remains to be seen if WWE actually pulls the trigger and puts the match on the Worlds Collide card, but the history is already sitting there waiting — and Chicago would be one hell of a place to bring it all back around.
