CM Punk and Kevin Nash may have finally buried the hatchet, because the two longtime rivals were caught on camera sharing a friendly moment backstage at the WWE Hall of Fame.
Video taken behind the scenes at Friday night’s ceremony showed Kevin Nash approaching CM Punk to start a conversation. What could have been an awkward encounter turned into something completely different, as Punk was seen smiling, laughing, and greeting Nash warmly. The two ended up shaking hands and sharing a hug before talking briefly, a moment that quickly caught attention given their history.
The friendly interaction stood out even more considering the recent tension between them. Back in late December, Nash publicly critiqued Punk’s appearance on the December 22 episode of WWE Raw, calling attention to the fact that Punk wore a shirt during his performance. Punk didn’t let the comment slide quietly and responded in his own way soon after.
Instead of firing back directly in interviews, Punk appeared to troll Nash during a house show by wearing two shirts at once, making it clear he heard the criticism and was having fun with it. Both men continued referencing each other in the media afterward, keeping their long-running friction alive heading into WrestleMania season.
Their issues actually stretch back much further than the recent back-and-forth. The tension dates all the way to 2011, when Punk and Nash shared a heated promo segment that set up what many fans expected to be a match between them. That match never happened, with Triple H stepping in at the time—something Nash has previously claimed prevented the bout from ever taking place.
Despite the history, the scene backstage at the Hall of Fame told a very different story. Punk was present at the ceremony to watch the night’s inductions, while Nash appeared alongside Sean Waltman to help induct NBA legend Dennis Rodman into the Hall of Fame.
Seeing Punk and Nash laughing together after years of tension was something few fans expected, especially after their more recent public jabs. Whether this moment signals a true end to their long-standing issues or just a temporary truce remains to be seen.
